Buckwheat

Fagopyrum esculentum

Buckwheat belongs to the group of so-called pseudocereals. Although the seed is often used and processed in a similar way to cereals, from a botanical point of view the plant belongs to the knotweed family. Buckwheat is extremely easy to grow and has excellent weed suppression properties. It also increases biodiversity through its intensive flowering phase and contains a great deal of crude protein with a high protein value. Buckwheat is very sensitive to cold.
