Blue (narrow-leaved) lupin (sweet)
Lupinus angustifolius
Blue narrow-leaved sweet lupins are cultivated as a main crop for the production of high-quality and protein-rich animal and human foodstuff. The cultivar has experienced a revival in recent years as part of the trend towards healthy, plant-based nutrition. It is expected that cultivation will continue to become more prevalent. As a legume, blue lupin fixes atmospheric nitrogen and converts it into a form that can be used by plants. As a drought-tolerant species, it can also be cultivated in lighter and nutrient-poor soils. When cultivating on areas where no lupins have been cultivated for around 10 years, the use of our rhizobia inoculant RhizoFix® RF-40, especially formulated for lupins, is recommended.
