The rust-resistant variety, recommended for winter cover cropping

As a tetraploid cultivar, it has a strong first cut followed by a uniformly good yield performance in the following cuts. MERVANA’s high sugar content and excellent palatability make it an excellent choice for fresh forage. MERVANA can also be used in the mixtures recommended by the North-West German Chamber of Agriculture (NWL). In 2021, the NWL gave MERVANA a special WZ rating, meaning that it is highly recommended for use as a winter cover crop. This underlines the variety’s quality, as well as its ability to maintain its high yield levels after overwintering. A special feature of this variety is its further improved rust resistance. MERVANA earned a grade of 2, or outstanding. Rust resistance will continue to be an increasingly important issue in the future, and MERVANA is prepared.
